Recording for the first leere album, Compassionate Ride, began back in Sept 2003 at the basement studio of engineer and producer Paul Brook. Under the guidance of Paul and Mark Yakes the songs and the melodies gradually took shape and a range of artists contributed to the making of the whole album. Tim Shakespeare and Jon Priestley looked after the guitar parts with Mark performing on bass guitar and on his very own creation, a 5 string tenor guitar. Paul Brook and Jon Priestley arranged and performed the multi layered backing vocals. The very talented Chris Lavelle was involved in early recordings performing on 'Liberty Pavement' and Mark Tibbenham guested on keyboards on 'New York Of This Isle'. The first track on the album 'St Catherine' refers to the small chapel found in the crypt at Derby Cathedral, which also features in the short leere film/documentary 'Where A Cool Light Unfolds' (2012). 'St Catherine' was performed live on BBC Radio Coventry and Warwickshire in 2005. The album was mastered by Andie Thomson at Gighouse Studios. It is available from Wild Duck Productions, Amazon and BPM Records in Derby
