Written Worth: Lyrics & Synopsis |
|
Lyrics
If I pretend that I don't know And I pretend that I don't see It could be that lives will sail On without the past But if we steer from lives that rage Witness that I can breathe It could be our lives will sail All within their past
I've observed the souls turning out to work Written worth and holy stories born upon their lips
Sing ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last Sing ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last
I'm in need of Love's sharp point It does cut me up to hear Of lives unguarded, derailed All within the past In the work beneath the sun Its in the work that shades it son And out of this hearts can change All within their past
I've observed her soul turning out to work Written worth and holy stories born upon their lips I've observed the souls turning out to work Written worth and holy stories born upon their lips
Sing ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last Sing ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last Sought ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last Sing ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last
Sing ideas of a promise Meet your promise so fast Sing ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last Sing ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last Sought ideas of a promise Meet your promise at last
At last At last At last…
At last At last At last…
At last At last At last…

Again Jon's guitar solo seizes you with the final bits of the story - the blazing sun perhaps - and with an outro that I still find very uplifting. The song tries to convey the general idea that these texts hold something over us…despite being written years and years ago…they ask questions about what we value, what type of world we want, about our potential to live peacefully out of a faithful understanding of ourselves. Yeah…a move away from young Jonah…but leading reassuringly onto…
